Canadian Approach to Arc Flash and Electrical Safety

This webinar is taught by Andrew Bauer from Rockwell Automation. Unlike OSHA in the U.S., Canada has no federal body that has jurisdiction over the majority of private industries. Instead, each province has its own statute and regulations that industry must abide by. It does, however, have a national consensus standard, which was initially based on the American NFPA 70E. This presentation will briefly discuss Canada’s approach to workplace electrical safety (standards and regulations), with particular focus on the CSA standard for Workplace Electrical Safety - Z462-15.

About the presenter:
Andrew Bauer currently works as a safety consultant with Rockwell Automation. He graduated in 2000 from the University of Windsor (Ontario) with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering. Since then, he has worked in the automotive industry, developing and commissioning automated testing equipment; designed medium voltage motor control systems for various industries; and since 2010, has been performing arc flash analysis and conducting training seminars related to electrical safety. He holds a certificate from TUV Rheinland as a Functional Safety Engineer, and is also a licensed Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario.
