Grid Interconnection Studies for Renewable Energy
Renewable energy, and power plants which utilize Wind or solar (or other type of renewables) to generate electricity are top topics. The study phase of these type of projects are different from the conventional power plants. The initial study work on these type of plants are extremely important, and can change the entire prospect of the project. It should focus on meeting the applicable FERC/NERC (or local) standards/rules. It is vital to focus on the ability of the plant to provide enough reactive power to meet the power factor requirements on the grid side at the point of interconnection.
In this Webinar a small renewable plant is created in EasyPower. The case is studied under different conditions in order to evaluate the Power Factor compliance of the plant with the FERC/NERC requirements. The method can be easily applicable to other type of renewable energy sources.
