What Happened to the ‘125 kVA Low Voltage Exemption’?
In the original release of IEEE 1584-2002, there was language referring to the fact that systems below 240 VAC and supplied by transformers smaller than 125 kVA could be ‘disregarded’ as they presented virtually no risk of arc flash hazard. This ‘exemption’ has been replaced in the recently released IEEE 1584-2018 version of the standard. During this Tuesday Refresher webinar, Jim Chastain will explore the impact of the new wording in the standard. In addition, he works though several examples in this part of the voltage spectrum to discuss what alternatives are available to facilities managers to deal with the repercussions of this change in standard.
